5 Tips To Succeed With An Online Business
Many online business owners who fail to make online income do so for various reasons and those that succeed do so in various ways. Here are tips and strategies that can help you achieve success with your online business.
1. Ensure you go into a market where money is currently being spent. If you are undecided on how to start an online business have a look around on the internet to get ideas from other successful business entrepreneurs.
Ideally you need to target markets where you can sell products that are always in demand. A few examples would be weight loss, online dating, make money at home, household pets, anti-ageing, golf, and stop smoking.
2. You can always join an affiliate program if you do not have a product of your own to sell. As an affiliate marketer you will be paid a commission to sell other people's products. There are numerous affiliate programs to join and products available for you to sell. You will be one step ahead of many other affiliate marketers if you purchase the product yourself and learn about it so that you can share your knowledge when you market it.
3. With your knowledge of the product you will be in a position to provide useful information in the form of pre sell web pages and a review page. This will help increase your online income as many people are looking for information on a product before they purchase it.
4. It is a good idea to offer further information about the product or a free report on your pre sell or review pages. A simple sign up form is all that is required where the person just has to provide their name and email address in exchange for the free information.
The objective of offering free information is to enable you to build a list of subscribers that you can follow up with later on and market to in the future to make additional sales.
5. It is recommended that you become proficient in one form of marketing before moving on to another one. The reason many online business owners quit is because they never focus on generating enough targeted traffic to their website on a consistent basis.
This is mainly due to the fact that they really do not know how to generate traffic and so try many different methods all at once instead of becoming an expert in one method. They do not understand the really important point that it takes time to build momentum and it can take many hours to become an expert in one internet marketing method that will generate targeted traffic.
You will greatly reduce your chances of becoming an online business failure if you follow the success tips above. Put these five tips into action and be prepared to work hard on a consistent basis and you will greatly increase your chances of succeeding with your online business and making online income.

Newbies Hints & Tips : Direct Response Marketing - What's This?
Direct Response Marketing is defined by Wikipedia as: Direct response marketing is a form of marketing designed to solicit a direct response which is specific and quantifiable...
Direct Marketing involves a direct response from a customer. It is NOT selling books, manuals, CDs, DVDs or any of your information products in fact, in your high street stores.
Why is this, you ask? Well, stores would expect you to sell your products to them for anything up to 70 percent discount off the retail price. They keep most of the profit leaving you, the author and producer of the product, with very little indeed. This is always assuming you can get one of the stores to sell them for you in the first place.
However, with Direct Response Marketing you are able to sell your own products direct, for anything between $9.99 to $5,000, or more.
You don't have to suffer the injustice of surrendering a huge percentage of your profits to the wholesalers and stores. You keep all the profit on your retail sale.
With Direct Response, you will never have to persuade anyone to buy your products, or make a sale face to face. Your customers come to you. They send their orders directly to you - well in fact it's usually via PayPal, Clickbank, Paydotcom, or similar payment system. This removes any 'rejection' from the equation.
Direct Response is a business structured to avoid the pain of rejection. It's also unique because you don't need a large amount of capital to start. Small change is all that's necessary. Compare this with a Franchise for example, which would require an investment of anything between $100,000 to £900,000.
All that is basically needed to begin is a laptop, and a strong desire to succeed!
You can start your business from home, using the kitchen table, or perhaps spare room. You can be as private as you want, and no one need be aware of what you're doing from your kitchen table or spare room. You can start in your spare time whilst keeping your regular job while building your business.
You have complete control over what you sell. As long as your business is ethical and honest, you won't go far wrong.
So far we've talked about working your business with a laptop or PC. So what if you can't abide computers? No problem! You can work your business for example, by placing a tiny classified advert in the paper, which can generate thousands and thousands of dollars worth of orders.
Your small classified ad, or a small display ad, contains a 'phone or fax number. Your prospective customers call that number and leave their name and address. You send out the sales letter, and your customers order from you.
Your local printing firm would be the first to approach about printing your manual or report or book. There are plenty of firms out there waiting for your business.
It has to be said; starting your Direct Response business this way is going to cost you more than using the Internet. It's all a matter of personal choice.
Some people love the Internet; some will avoid it at all costs!

Newbies Hints and Tips : 6 Strategies to Avoid When E-mailing Your List
While there are many different ways you can encourage people to subscribe to your list, there are certain things you should do to avoid people wanting to unsubscribe.
1. The most obvious thing to avoid at all costs is spamming. Never ever send spam to your list. There are now many laws and rules that are applied to help protect the privacy of the Internet users from spamming and unwanted mails.
With the popularity of the electronic mail as a medium for marketing because of the low cost, many companies have seized the opportunity and have flooded many e-mail accounts with promotional mail. It would be a wise Internet Marketer who kept well away from going down that route.
2. Take notice of emails that bounce, or are undeliverable. Clean your list, and avoid sending emails that bounce back. However, there are certain times when the Server is so exceptionally busy that emails will bounce, so you can try again later. Sometimes emails bounce because the recipient's inbox is full at the time.
The reason that emails bounce back consistently may be because of an invalid email spelling. Ensure there are no obvious errors (e.g. an email address spelt with .con instead of .com) or perhaps the address has been erased. Its good practice to manage your list carefully, and to erase any email addresses that consistently bounce.
3. Be sure to provide an unsubscribe link in all your emails. It is always of extreme inconvenience and annoyance to be on a list and unable to get off it, if needs be.
If a customer unsubcribes from your list, do respect their request. If you continue to send them emails you will be sending them spam mail, and could be reported. When you are reported as a spammer, you can get into a lot of trouble. You could be reported to the authorities and blacklisted by the Internet service providers. You will then lose many subscribers and many more potential subscribers.
4. Controversial issues should always be avoided.
5. One very obvious point to remember is to avoid always selling to your subscribers. Potential customers will quickly get very fed up when they see each and every email coming in trying to sell them something. It's a sure fire way to get many more people unsubscribing, and a list that quickly reduces in size. Keep your list clean and manageable.
6. Points to remember:
· Never send spam.
· Never send illegal emails.
· Never send pornographic or shocking or disturbing material.
· Keep out of trouble and potential run-ins with the Internet Service Providers.
· Keep your business operation clean and legitimate.
· Keep your reputation sparkling clean.
Remembering the above will help you keep a happy and healthy relationship with your subscribers, and to stay within the boundaries of the Law.

How To Excel And Reach Success In Your Business
To be able to climb the steep ladder of success, it is necessary to fine tune your business. Irrespective of the nature, type or size of your business you need to prepare and nurture it in a specific way to be ready for success.
Abraham Lincoln once stated 'while others were enjoying their sleep I was busily climbing the ladder of success'. He was referring to his phenomenal success 'from a log cabin to white house'. Like Lincoln you too can prepare, ahead of others, to take your business to the pinnacle of success. And the top of the ladder of success being never crowded on reaching the top it is easy to stay there and excel.
The groundwork to reach business excellence starts with finding answers to a few questions. The important questions are;
A. Where my business is now?
B. Where I want it to be?
C. And how I am going to get it there?
To probe what stage your business is now compare your business with the competing businesses. What is your business's market niche, the popularity, the size of customer base, current performance, turnover and profits are some of the comparable indicators. These indicators will help to indentify the current position of your business. For example if yours is a website business you can use indicators such as its search engine position, Google page rank, traffic status, incoming links etc to ascertain where your business is now.
Next step will be to evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of your business to understand it better. Then you can determine ways and means to convert the weaknesses to strengths. Business strengths will lead to opportunities.
This analysis will also reveal to you the threats to you business as well. A plan of action will help to deal with threats. Threats are challenges that test your strengths to the fullest.
On identifying weaknesses too work out a plan on how to convert weaknesses to strengths. More strength and fewer weaknesses will provide you with more opportunities.
As a useful step of this exercise you can benchmark your business with the best practices of businesses that excel. The factors such as customer loyalty and retention, product/service features and quality, business image, on time delivery, after sale service, marketing capability etc., can be benchmarked. It is useful to compare your current performance in each operational activity with the best practices and try to narrow the gaps.
The top businesses excel because of their best practices. Some of your business practices may be above or below theirs. Learn what others do better in business and make improvements to your business practices. Accordingly, make plans and implement what you need to improve to excel. It benefits you to follow those who have already reached the top.
Next your focus should be to find answer to the question 'where I want my business to be? It refers to the Vision of your business that states where you want the business to be. Your business needs a carefully thought out Vision. 'To reach the number one position in its line of business in five years time' is an example of a Vision. Decide on a Vision to aim at for business excellence. A Vision has a definite time deadline. The Vision is really a 'Dream with a Deadline'. And you need to make and follow a strategic plan to reach it.
Our final question 'how you are going to get there' relates to the Mission of your business. A business needs a Mission to take it towards its Vision. A Mission Statement should reflect your business purpose. For example a successful apparel company had as its mission 'Clothing the world in style'. Your business too can have such a rhythmic Mission Statement to constantly remind, motivate and push you and your staff toward business excellence.

How to Get Free Traffic From the Search Engines
There is no better traffic to get to your website than by getting organic traffic from the search engines. These visitors are pin point targeted that will convert much better than normal pay-per-click campaigns will. Here are a few tips so you too can set your website up to gain from this free traffic.
The first thing you need to do is find some keywords that will convert into free traffic. This is a fairly simple process. You'll need to use a keyword tool to find some keywords that get a decent amount of traffic and then use Google as a tool to check how much competition those keywords are getting.
The trick is to find words or phrases that have over 1,000 searches per month but less than 20,000 search results (using quotes). Do a little research and compile a list.
Once you have a list of some good keywords with little or no competition then you can start putting those words on paper. Write some quality articles using the keywords throughout the articles. A good rule of thumb to use for keyword density is around 3%. You can do higher or lower so long as your articles make sense to the reader. Don't over flood them and spam your website with keywords.
After you have written and posted your article with the keywords you'll need to work on moving that article up the search engine ranks. To do this you'll need to get some back links pointing back to the articles you are posting on your site.
Write more articles and submit them to the most popular article directories At the end of those articles there is an author or bio box where you can leave a link back to your website. If possible, leave an anchor link using the same keywords you are targeting with the article you are linking to. The more you do this, the higher those articles will rank and the longer they will stick.
You'll want to keep an eye on some of the keywords just so you know how many back links it will take to get those articles to the top spots. The top spot in Google gets a majority of the clicks so that's what you need to shoot for.
Once you get one article to the top spot, rinse and repeat the method for all of your keywords. When you start getting more than a handful of your selected keywords to the top of Google then you will really begin to see the traffic start rolling in.
The most important part of this process is the research that goes into the selection of the keywords. If you do this part right, those keywords will bring your website traffic for life.
